Discover EUPEX’s latest contribution in the September issue of Innovation News Network
EUPEX is featured in Issue 27 of The Innovation Platform, Innovation News Network’s quarterly publication, with a dedicated four-page feature exploring how the project is helping shape the future of European high-performance computing.
The article, “From Chip Design to HPC Readiness: How EUPEX Is Shaping Europe’s HPC Future,” looks at EUPEX’s contribution across the HPC value chain – from European processor development and system integration to software innovation and application readiness.
The feature highlights the arrival of the first SiPearl Rhea1 processor samples, a major milestone for the European HPC ecosystem, and explores how EUPEX is helping bridge the gap between European chip design and future large-scale HPC deployment. Building on the foundations of the European Processor Initiative (EPI) and supported by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, the project brings together European technologies within a common platform to assess their readiness for future HPC systems.
A key focus of the article is an interview with Matteo Turisini from CINECA, who discusses the importance of preparing scientific applications from the outset for emerging European technologies. He shares insights into the challenges of adapting and optimising applications for Arm-based processors, as well as the lessons learned from EUPEX’s work across a wide range of scientific domains.
The feature also highlights the EUPEX Software Stack, showcasing the project’s efforts to develop a coherent software environment covering system management, workload execution, performance optimisation and I/O.
