EUPEX at ECMWF workshop on HPC in meteorology

From 9 to 13 October 2023, EUPEX consortium partner ECMWF was hosting its 20th workshop on the use of high performance computing in meteorology.

A EUPEX poster was featured in the poster session, and presented by Andrew Beggs, ECMWF.

Andrew presented ECMWF’s work on preparing for the world of Exascale computing using Arm’s Scalable Vector Extension and High Bandwidth Memory. He demonstrated how ECMWF has done this in a performance portable way on CloudSC, an intensive cloud microphysics parameterisation scheme as part of the EUPEX project. So that code optimised for the hardware of today is still at peak performance for the machines of tomorrow!
