Preparing Applications and European Users to Efficiently Exploit Future ARM-based Exascale Machines
We’re excited to announce that the EUPEX project will host a dedicated workshop at HiPEAC 2026 in Krakow!
EUPEX brings together academic and industrial partners to co-design a modular, Exascale-ready pilot system that integrates a full spectrum of European technologies. This pilot platform is built to demonstrate the readiness, scalability, and energy efficiency of these technologies — with a particular focus on the Modular Supercomputing Architecture (MSA) — as we move toward Exascale computing in Europe.
This workshop will provide a deep dive into EUPEX’s work, highlighting:
Applications from key domains such as climate science, agriculture, drug discovery, and seismology.
Real-world use cases demonstrating challenges and benefits of porting to ARM architectures.
Integration of the European software stack for performance profiling and energy measurement.
A dedicated focus on energy consumption, including:
Tool demonstrations from the EUPEX stack to improve energy efficiency.
Broader discussions on the critical role of energy profiling in HPC.
Reflections on the strategic importance of ARM-based platforms for scientific computing, and how EUPEX collaborates with European Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to extend its impact.
Among the sessions, you can expect presentations on:
Optimizing MPI collectives for multi-core nodes (xhc)
Using Flash for intermediate data management in HPC
Evaluating SVE performance counters beyond standard metrics
We believe this workshop will resonate strongly with the HiPEAC community, especially for those interested in bridging HPC, energy efficiency, and edge computing.
